The block-building game "Minecraft" has already sold over 100 million units, developer Mojang confirmed.

The popular indie game has passed 100 million sales across all platforms, Endgadget reported. Mojang posted a fun infographic on their page, pointing out in jest that if every person who owns a copy of 'Minecraft' formed a nation, it will be the 12th most populous in the world. "The Minecraft community includes folks from every country and territory on the planet," Mojang wrote on the infographic. "There have even been four copies sold to crafters in Antartica. We hope they enjoy the polar bears we're adding to the next PC/Mac update!"

The indie game developer also pointed out that since the beginning of the year, there is an average of 53,000 copies of "Minecraft" sold per day, and over 40 million people play the game every month.

As a final note, Mojang has shown its gratitude to the growing "Minecraft" community. "We'd like to offer our heartfelt thanks to every one of you who's bought Minecraft over the past few years, no matter which platform you play on," the developer said. "We're constantly in awe of our community and the amazing things you achieve together. You really are the best."

Endgadget reported that the success of "Minecraft" can be attributed to the game's endless possibilities, focusing on creativity and enabling its players to build practically whatever they could think of. The game has charmed people all over the world, both young and old, and some have even been playing the game for years.

Mojang's continuous support for the game has also been a point of success for "Minecraft", with the developer bringing out constant updates, new mechanics, creatures and materials.

When Microsoft acquired Mojang two years ago, "Minecraft" has already sold over 50 million units across all platforms, including PC, Mac, and consoles, The Verge reported. Since then, there were a lot of "Minecraft" spinoffs made, including Telltale Games' "Minecraft: Story Mode", and a "Minecraft" game catered to the Chinese audience.
