The stunning new iPad has become the "strongest iPad launch yet," selling 3 million units in the first four days after its launch, according to Apple.
Apple's latest tablet boasts of Retina Display, A5x chip, 4G LTE and 5-megapixel rear-facing (iSight) camera. And even though the battery life is 10 hour (9 hours for the 4G connectivity), or identical with that of iPad 2, the body of the new tablet is still light and thin.
No wonder Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said, “the new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet.”
“Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can't wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday,” he added.
The new device has been made available in 10 countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, UK and the US Virgin Islands. Moreover, it will hit the market in 24 more countries, starting at 8:00 a.m. local time on Friday, March 23. Apple fans can buy the new iPad through Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
The price of the device is the same as it predecessor's. The 16 GB model with Wi-Fi will be sold at $499 while the basic Wi-Fi + 4G model will retail for $629. There are two color options for the customers - black and white.
