Google, which has been known for its innovative edge, announced on Wednesday, a new device for household that will assist people to take control of their lives.
Recently, it was noticed that Google has tried to move out of its internet based initiatives and according to some experts, this is part of the transition of Google into the real world. The app, works more like an assistant a person can go to and communicate with, rather than a tool.
"We want users to have an ongoing two-way dialogue with Google," Sundar Pichai, Google's chief executive, told about 7,000 attendees in an outdoor music in California. "We have started becoming truly conversational."
Google "Home" received a two-hour keynote from Sundar Pichai, the CEO and other top-level developers. However, the price and the release dates or the exact features are yet to be disclosed, according to New York Times.
When asked about the hasty introduction of the product without proper specifications and release date, Pichai spoke about Amazon. "Credit to the team at Amazon for creating a lot of excitement in this space," he said.
Notably, Amazon has sold more than a million "Echo" devices at a price of $180, and each of the voice-based assistants makes the owner go for Amazon products and services the next time. (The company does not disclose the exact number of devices.) Those consumers are generally lost to Google or any other brand in the market.
Incidentally, this is Google's tenth annual developer's conference, but the first held in an amphitheatre adjacent to the company's headquarters.
The event, although designed to be inspirational and instructional for the thousands of freelance developers who use Google's products or platform to build things, yet was promotional in nature.
In essence, the event was an opportunity to broadcast around the world and gain additional consumers in the process.
