In the past, whenever the need for streaming games arises, it's always required to be accompanied by a PC, not a tablet or a smartphone. But those times have come to past. Today, this seems no longer true.
Mobile videogame streamer Kamcord has just announced it will now allow users to directly stream games from their Android smartphones. The service has already gained reputation as being the "Twitch of mobile" and has already about two million users who mostly play popular games like "Boom Beach" and "Clash of Clans." Twitch is a videogame streamer that is owned by Amazon.
The concept of streaming games from mobile phones is not new. However, before, it was required for streamers to connect their handsets to a PC then stream the game from there. With Kamcord's announcement, this will be the first time ever that users can directly stream games without having to connect to a PC first, making streaming "on the go." The mobile game streamer's overlay can be used with any smartphone videogame and also includes social features that are a bit similar to Twitch.
However, according to Kamcord's co-founder, Aditya Rathnam, there is one major problem. The ability of directly broadcasting games from a mobile is currently available only to Android phone users. Ratnam said that streaming on Apple devices is not possible because its iOS does not have the screen capture or application program interfaces needed. If only the said OS offers screen capture APIs, Kamkord will be able to build an app for it within a short span of two weeks.
For now, though, there is still no probable solution that the Kamkord has come up with to be able to help their streamers who are using Apple devices. They will just have to continue using the standard way of connecting to a PC to stream games. They can also use the Apple TV if they have one and is inclined for viewing.
