HTC released its first quad-core smartphone, the HTC One X, at the Mobile World Congress, as expected. The phone is to be released in April and will be heading to the U.S. soon, but the U.S. will have a different version of the phone.

The HTC One X boasts a 4.7-inch Super LCD2 touchscreen with a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 32GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM. Its 8-megapixel rear-facing camera can record 1080-pixel full-HD videos. It has quick auto-focus and 0.7 shutter delay, which means it is able to capture images in less than a second.

The global version of the One X is based on Nvidia’s new technology for quad-core processor, the quad-core Tegra 3 chipset. The smartphone also provides users with 25GB of Dropbox storage for free, for two years. Dropbox offers only 2GB of online storage, and its 50GB upgrade comes with a $99 price tag per year.

Moreover, the HTC One X also has Beats Audio software built in and will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense UI 4.0. No details were provided regarding price or the exact release date of the new smartphone, but HTC will ship it in April.

The mobile maker has signed a deal with U.S. wireless carrier AT&T to release a U.S. version of the One X. However, unlike the global version, the U.S. phone will not have a quad-core processor, but will use Qualcomm’s 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. On the other hand, the U.S. version will be LTE compatible, while the global one will support just HSPA+ connectivity.

The Taiwanese HTC also launched a smaller One S device with a 4.3-inch super AMOLED touchscreen, qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 16GB storage. Dropbox and Beats Audio will be included as well and the camera module and operating system will be the same as in One X. The device will run on T-Mobile.
