During Berlin's IFA 2015 on the first week of September, Asus announced its newest product as an answer to Intel's Compute Stick. The VivoStick made waves as it promises to give you PC access in a stick and you would only require a TV that supports HDMI. Recently, Asus made another version of the pc-on-a-stick in the form of the QM1-B002 that are now available for purchase in China and parts of Europe for $140.

The QM1-B002 is powered by the Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor that offers 32 GB of storage with 2 GB of RAM. Naturally it has an HDMI connector and also comes with a micro USB port, a microSD card slot and a USB 2.0 port. The device comes packed with a Windows 8.1 32-bit software that you can upgrade for free to the new Windows 10. It also supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. So where exactly is the VivoStick?

So far, there are no tentative dates for the VivoStick's release (not even rumors of it). The device is already listed on the Asus website along with the specifications. Apart from the initial reports that it will be priced at $129, the VivoStick will also come with Windows 10 powered by Intel's Cherry Trail processor. The biggest difference is the lack of a microSD slot that the new QM1 supports. The VivoStick might have gotten all the fanfare, but this newest device looks and performs infinitely better.

The competition to capture this budding new market is very stiff. Most of the other brands offer the same features with the same specs. Aside from Intel's own Compute Stick, there's also Hanspree by Micro PC and Modecom's FreePC. There are varying factors that would make consumers favor one above the other. Factors such as the number of ports that can be used, the noise the device generates, and the availability of a microSD slot. So far, none of the devices really stand out and if the VivoStick makes a couple of adjustments before it's formally released, it just might take the cake.
