AT&T just launched its first own-brand tablet, as the AT&T Trek HD is now officially available for purchase from the company's website.

The AT&T Trek HD is also the first tablet in the company's lineup to ship with Android Lollipop on board out of the box, and it offers neat specs for its price and category.

Speaking of specifications, the AT&T Trek HD is a thin and light tablet sporting an 8-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and it packs a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor under the hood. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, expandable up to 32GB via microSD, a 4060 mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE. According to AT&T, the slate should last for up to 8 hours on a single charge, and a Multi-User2 setting will allow tablet owners to share the device with others.

"The Trek HD is a big step forward for AT&T in terms of developing affordable products with premium features. Not only is this our first AT&T branded tablet, it's the first tablet in our entire portfolio with Lollipop already installed, so when you buy the Trek HD you're getting the most advanced Android operating system at a great value - on the network with the nation's strongest 4G LTE signal," AT&T Mobility's senior vice president of Device Marketing and Developer Services, Jeff Bradley, touted in a new press release.

Starting on Tuesday, May 12, the AT&T Trek HD 4G LTE tablet is available for purchase from the company's online store, and the slate will also go on sale in AT&T retail locations nationwide on Friday, May 15. The tablet costs just $49 when agreeing to sign a two-year contract with the carrier, or $10 per month for 20 months with the AT&T Tablet Installment plan. Consumers can also add the tablet to a new or existing Mobile Share Value Plan for $10 per month.

Interested customers can now purchase the AT&T Trek HD online from the carrier's website at this link. For more information, meanwhile, check out AT&T's Mobile Minute video below.
