A new Forge TV Android TV box from Razer made its debut at CES 2015, boasting impressive specifications for its affordable $100 price tag.

Razer has made a name for itself mainly due to its PC gaming products, but the company has now launched its very first Android TV device called Forge TV.

The gadget packs a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core Krait 450 CPU under the hood, paired with Adreno 420 graphics and 2GB of RAM for a fast and smooth performance, as well as 16GB of internal storage capacity and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

In other words, the new Razer Forge TV comes at the same $100 price point as the Google Nexus Player, but brings more storage and Ethernet into the mix.

"Powered by a quad-core processor and gaming-grade graphics, the Razer Forge TV has the performance to tear through Full HD games and media. Get access to blazing fast connectivity and media streaming with Wireless AC and Gigabit Ethernet," Razer touts on the Forge TV product page. "All this power and performance has been engineered into a sleek and compact design featuring a silent thermal solution."

The gadget is designed for PC gaming, Android gaming, and Android-based entertainment via Google Play. In terms of availability, the Forge TV is expected to launch sometime in the first quarter of this year for $99 on its own and $149 when purchased in a bundle with a game controller.

The Forge TV will allow up to four games to play simultaneously, promising to provide a smooth experience. On the software side, the device will run Android TV just like the Nexus player.

"With the ability to connect up to 4 simultaneous controllers, you can enjoy the world of multi-player gaming on the big screen from the comfort of your own living room," Razer further boasts.

Razer will also release apps for Android and iOS for users who don't want the game controller as well, as the Forge TV can serve other purposes besides gaming. Users will also be able to stream music, videos, and apps to their big TV, for instance, not just play various games.

These are just some of the neat goodies the Forge TV has to offer, but many more treats are part of the mix as well. Head over to the product page to learn more.
