OnePlus has officially announced that its One smartphone will go up for pre-order for a limited time on Oct. 27, giving more consumers access to the device.

So far, the company has opted for an invite system to allow some consumers to get their hands on a OnePlus One smartphone, justifying this decision as a way to make sure that it doesn't produce more than it can sell.

Some consumers, however, have been waiting for ages to get an invite to buy the OnePlus smartphone, and have become quite frustrated with this whole process. The company has now decided to open up pre-orders for the device so that those who didn't get an invite can still have a chance to buy the elusive smartphone. This is the first time OnePlus will be accepting pre-orders, and this decision comes after the company received lots of criticism and complaints for invite-only strategy.

"If a coveted invite for the OnePlus One always seems to elude you, we think you will be thrilled by a different kind of invitation we are offering. We would like for you to be a part of the first monumental change to OnePlus - the new pre-order system," the company touted in its announcement on Monday, Oct. 20.

"Since the first day of OnePlus, we have strived towards the goal of distributing our device to everyone and anyone who believed in our vision. The invites have been a necessary way to let us control the high demand for the phone while maintaining remarkably high quality."

"But we now have an exciting alternative to invites. With our pre-order system, you'll be able to place your order for the One and immediately be told the estimated shipping time. Starting today, for the seven days prior to pre-orders you will be able to arrange your shopping cart and save it just how you like it to ensure your checkout goes quickly and smoothly during the pre-orders hour. If you get an invite after submitting your pre-order, you can use it to skip the queue and get your device shipped right away."

"Arranging" your shopping cart before pre-orders kick in means that you can set your payment option, delivery address, and other such details so you don't have to waste any more time on this on Oct. 27. To do this, head over to the pre-order page at this link.

It's worth highlighting that OnePlus will only be taking pre-orders for an hour, which means that not all interested buyers may be able to get their hands on the device. Pre-orders will kick off on Oct. 27 at 15:00 GMT, 08:00 PST, and 11:00 EST and end one hour later.

OnePlus accessories will also be available during the same one-hour window, including the JBL E1+Earphones, which will cost $24.99 during pre-orders and return to its regular price of $39.99 afterwards.
