It looks like the HTC One E8 is about to drop its Asian market exclusivity and head over to U.S. shores, where it will land on Sprint's network.
The carrier itself posted a promotional video for the HTC One E8 on its YouTube channel a couple of days ago, but pulled the clip afterwards. Nevertheless, nothing completely disappears once it's surfaced online, and the information is now out there. Sprint did not offer any concrete details regarding when the HTC One E8 will actually hit its network, or how much it will cost when it does.
It also seems like the HTC One E8 will reach the U.S. as an exclusive to Sprint, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering that the carrier has unleashed the Harman/Kardon edition of the HTC One M8 flagship not too long ago.
As a reminder, the HTC One E8 is basically a plastic variant of the flagship HTC One M8, boasting some impressive hardware while accommodating a lower price point. The company may have ditched the premium metal body in favor of a polycarbonate design to lower costs, but the HTC One E8 is still a powerhouse under the hood. The smartphone packs a fast processor, a full HD 5-inch display, and a 13-megapixel rear camera instead of the flagship's Duo Camera setup. Sprint's model is expected to come only with single-SIM support, and the smartphone should also be 4G LTE enabled.
Other than that, the version set to hit Sprint is expected to sport identical specifications to the original HTC One E8. That means a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter. A 2,600 mAh battery will keep things up and running, while Android 4.4 KitKat will spice it up on the software side.
Even if Sprint has pulled the promotional video in the meantime, the simple fact that it made the clip suggests that the HTC One E8 may be ready to hit its network soon enough. No additional information is available at this point, but the Sprint HTC One E8 is expected to come with an affordable price tag on contract. Three days have passed since the promotional video was posted and then pulled, and Sprint has not made any official announcement yet. On the other hand, if this Monday is not the big day, we we can expect to see the Sprint HTC One E8 debut by the end of the week.
