Apple's iPhone may be headed to T-Mobile's MetroPCS brand sometime in the future, if everything goes according to plans.

After several years, T-Mobile has finally started selling the iPhone, becoming one of the last carriers in the U.S. to offer Apple's popular smartphone. In light of new information, T-Mobile's prepaid brand, MetroPCS, may be getting ready to start offering the iPhone as well, although nothing is confirmed at this point.

The news comes from Re/code, which spoke with T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sievert about the possibility of adding the iPhone to MetroPCS's lineup.

"We are very interested in that," Sievert told Re/code. "We think the Metro PCS customer would be as well," he added.

While the interview clearly reveals that the iPhone's arrival on MetroPCS is a favored possibility, it remains to be seen how the companies will pull it off. The iPhone is not exactly the most affordable smartphone out there, and MetroPCS customers are typically more budget-conscious.

On the other hand, it would not be the first time that a major carrier brings the iPhone to its prepaid brand as well. Sprint did it with its Virgin Mobile brand, for instance, and was quite successful at it, too. A similar move to start offering the iPhone on MetroPCS could prove to be successful as well, especially considering that T-Mobile's prepaid brand is still growing.

T-Mobile has added MetroPCS to 30 new markets, boosting the brand into new areas and allowing it to carry a wider range of devices. Apple's iPhone has always enjoyed great success with each and every iteration, and it seems that consumers continue to be attracted to it even if it's not very budget-friendly.

Last year, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said that his company was considering adding the iPhone to its MetroPCS brand. At the time, however, the CEO said this launch would not be "imminent."

It now seems that plans have advanced and the possibility is looking increasingly likely to become reality, but MetroPCS's addition of the iPhone is still not a done deal. For now there are no details as to when the iPhone may hit MetroPCS, but we'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear more about it.
