Most people are quite excited for the return of BlackBerry in the smartphone market and eagerly wait its official launching at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. While only a handful of people could watch it in the event itself, there is an alternative way to watch it live in the comfort of your own home.
Android Central shared that to live stream the event, just go to crackberry.com/bbmobilemwc2017. So don't forget to click on the website on Feb. 25.
Meanwhile, the announcement of the BlackBerry Mercury couldn't have come at a better time as the company has hit a zero percent market share in the fourth quarter of 2016 according to a report by Express.
The company was able to ship 207,000 units during the said financial quarter; however that is less than half of the units sold by its competitors.
A spokesperson for BlackBerry cited that their current strategy focuses on providing state-of-the-art software for enterprise and devices. The company also added that they have shifted away from hardware and toward a licensing model where partners develop hardware and distribute the BlackBerry name.
The BlackBerry Mercury has a new industrial design that goes with the aluminum unibody with its traditional physical keyboard. However, users may now swipe over the keyboard to interact with items on display much like a touchscreen, which means users may scroll down web pages or emails by swiping across the keyboard.
The keyboard's spacebar also acts as a fingerprint scanner to unlock the device. The device will sport a 4.5-inch multi-touch screen display with a respectable 1920x1080 resolution. It's powered by the Snapdragon 625 with 3GB of RAM and packs in a 3,200mAh battery with USB type C.
The device will run the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
