Sony has just announced that its slimmer PS Vita console will hit the U.S. this spring and will come bundled with a Borderlands 2 Limited Edition game pack.

When the company first unveiled its latest PS Vita handheld gaming console, it touted that the new device is roughly 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the original PlayStation Vita.

U.S. gamers who are eager to purchase the new PS Vita bundle will be able to do so starting this spring for $199.99. The bundle will include Borderlands 2 with six DLC packs, as well as an 8GB PS Vita memory card. According to Sony, the new console will also boast a new LCD screen instead of the OLED one found on the original model.

"The new model comes with 1GB of internal memory built into the system, and its 5-inch front touchscreen has a new high-definition liquid crystal display (LCD), giving you a high quality image that provides the same deep, immersive gaming experience that's at the core of the PS Vita system," Sony touts in its announcement on the official PlayStation blog.

Aside from the new screen, the latest PS Vita from Sony will also provide a longer battery life, allowing for 4 - 6 hours of play time (a notable increase over the previous 3 - 5 hours) and roughly 7 hours of video play (the previous version lasted for 5 hours).

"Many of you have waited patiently for Borderlands 2 to come to the PS Vita system, and we're pleased to bring it to you bundled with the new PS Vita model. The game utilizes the PS Vita system's unique front touchscreen and rear touchpad feature so you can easily zoom and pan on maps, manage inventory, inspect items, and more," Sony further boasts. "You can shoot and loot through Pandora with up to three of your PS Vita-toting friends via Infrastructure online play, and you can also cross save your progress with your PS3. As an added bonus, Borderlands 2 for PS Vita includes six downloadable content (DLC) packs: Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty, Mr. Tongue's Campaign of Carnage, Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1 and the Collector's Edition Pack."
