Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners waiting for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean may have to wait a bit longer, as the update reportedly faces delays.

The two Samsung Galaxy devices are currently running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and it seems that owners will have to settle for this version for now. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are expected to get new software builds in the future, just not the very near future.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has delayed the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. The news has not been confirmed by Samsung itself, but Sam Mobile's reports are generally spot on. The reason, apparently, is with the new version of Samsung's own TouchWiz software, which still needs testing on the handsets.

SamMobile did not elaborate on the matter and offered no information on when Android 4.2.2 will finally roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Samsung is currently porting the new TouchWiz from the Galaxy S4 onto the older devices, which are running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Worse things could happen, but this is bad news nonetheless for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners. On the other hand, Samsung did not announce any official date for the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, so you can't really blame the company for this alleged delay.

The company's new flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4, is already rocking the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but Google is expected to extend the life cycle of Jelly Bean with a new 4.3 version. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, meanwhile, is still being rumored, so it's difficult to tell with all certainty exactly which version of Android it will run out of the box.

Meanwhile, if SamMobile is correct, the older Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will have to wait patiently until TouchWiz gets less moody and the update is ready to roll out in all its glory. Keep in mind, however, that Samsung has yet to confirm anything, so this is pure speculation for now.
