Samsung apparently has an 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 in the pipeline to expand its popular Galaxy line of devices even further.

While Samsung recently made the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 official, rumor has it that an 8-inch sibling is also en route. The slightly bigger tablet just popped up online with leaked specs and a photo.

SamMobile reportedly got its hands on a press photo and purported specs for an upcoming 8-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. The leaked model appears nearly identical to the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. It does, however, sport a thinner bezel and a different sensor layout. If the report proves to be accurate, the 8-inch version will also be slightly beefier compared to the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.

According to the report, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will feature an 8-inch WXGA TFT display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800, a dual-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM. The slate will reportedly pack 16GB of internal storage and a micro SD card for expandable memory up to 64GB.

The leaked specs for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 also include a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, dual-band Wireless N connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, A-GPS and a 4,450 mAh battery. In terms of size, the slate will measure 8.24 x 4.81 x 0.27 inches.

The report further notes that Samsung will follow the same pattern as for the 7-inch slate, i.e. launch the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 in two versions: a Wi-Fi-only model and a 3G variant. The 3G SKU will work with EDGE (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA+42 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps (850/900/1900/2100) networks.

The announced Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, meanwhile, will sport a 7-inch TFT display with 1,024 x 600 resolution, a dual-core SoC clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB. Other specs include a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band Wireless N connectivity and a 4,000 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Wi-Fi-only version hits global availability starting in May, with the 3G version set to follow in June. The tablet's availability, however, varies by market and will roll out gradually. Samsung is expected to announce the 8-inch variant by the end of June.
