April Fools Day is over and done with on the Internet. However, you might have missed all the goodies and crazy things that happened during the day. So, we here at Mobile & Apps are taking the opportunity to list the top 5 pranks that made us laugh out loud or just twist our faces in confusion.
1. Gmail Blue
Google went ahead and did it; the company took April Fools Day to make fun of Microsoft Windows Blue with its own Gmail Blue initiative. What Google is saying here is, Gmail Blue doesn't bring anything new, all it does is make things more blue and that's it.
2. First Glass-Bottomed Plane
Ever wanted to fly on a plane where you can have a clear view of what's below, something similar to a glass bottom boat? Virgin Atlantic plans to pull this off with its glass-bottom plane.
Here's a quote from Virgin Atlantic.
"We hope to trial the glass bottom technology with other Virgin airlines in time and have asked other Virgin companies to support this innovative trial and launch our new domestic Scottish route. This really is a team effort from all corners of Virgin."
Speechless.
3. Find Treasure With Google Maps
With Google Maps, you can finally become that treasure hunter you've always admired when you were younger. You might not achieve much in life, but at least you'll be attempting to do it with 100 percent surety nothing will be found; isn't that exciting?
"Archeological analysis has confirmed that our Google Maps Street View team has indeed found one of history's long lost relics: a treasure map belonging to the infamous pirate, William "Captain" Kidd."
"The map was found on a recent expedition in the Indian Ocean, as part of a deep-water dive to expand our underwater Street View collection. Captain Kidd was rumored to have buried his treasure around the world, and tales of a long-lost treasure map have lingered for generations."
4. A Microwave By Nokia
Nokia as a company has dabbled in many things that are a far cry from mobile, but this right here, this is something else. Give a huge welcome to the Nokia branded Microwave, one so powerful, it could probably cook a human in mere minutes.
"We are delighted to announce a significant new extension to Nokia's product offering with the Nokia 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation, a touch-screen microwave oven. The Constellation sets itself apart with a superfast, water-cooled 8-core high-voltage transformer, which brings a combined performance of 5,000 watts to end-users, letting them heat up turnkey meal solutions within seconds."
'Nokia has a proven track record and extensive IPR in working with microwave radios, so for us this was a logical next step. We can attack our competition in their core business,' says Olavi Huhtikuu, Nokia's director of household innovation.
'That's why we developed the highly innovative 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation, which will revolutionize everything from single households to canteen kitchens.'
"The new Nokia 5AM-TH1N6 has even more innovative features. The device comes with the latest eye-tracking technology, which stops the food from rotating when you look at it, and it automatically adjusts the temperature depending on how hungry you look."
5. A Tour of North Korea by AnyRoad
You have to admit, this one is awesome. Being Toured around North Korea by "Kim Jon Un" himself is nothing short of extraordinary, especially when you read this, "Take my tour and you'll experience DJ Kim Jong Un, the most glorious famous DJ in the world!"
Bonus: Microsoft and Bing
Could Microsoft be any more boring? The company's Bing April Fools Day entry was the worst on the day. If you're going to go up against Google, do better, please, make a worthwhile effort. Nevertheless, the part about "Tom Cruise" being in a movie about Unicorns was quote surprising, and very true.
