It's just a few more hours to go before the imminent unpacking of the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone takes place and according to a fresh rumor, the handset is expected to have SwiftKey typing prediction built into the software.
Meanwhile, another leak has revealed an extensive image gallery showing us a couple of high-res pictures detailing the specifications of the device.
While the next-word and sentence prediction from SwiftKey is indeed a notable addition to Galaxy S4, it wouldn't be so much of a surprise for Samsung users as its previous devices, Galaxy Note 2 had featured the same prediction software.
"The way we do this is essentially by modeling the surface of the keyboard as a series of probability distributions," Ben Medlock, chief technology officer at TouchType Ltd, the U.K. company behind SwiftKey, was quoted as saying to The Wall Street Journal.
SwiftKey has always remained to be one of the top paid applications in the Android ecosystem. The application has been downloaded more than 15 million times. According to the WSJ, SwiftKey also licenses its technology to serve as the back-end processing for keyboards, such as the new BlackBerry Z10.
Coming to the Galaxy S4 specifications, the new rumors come as a follow up to the recent leak from a Chinese forum. While the earlier input from the forum was that Galaxy S4 will come with a 2,600mAh Near-Field Communication (NFC) battery, the latest leak gives us a couple of high-resolution pictures showing off the specs details. According to the images, the device measures as a 1080p 4.99-inch display with an embossed home key and cross-hatch textured plastic design on the front and back.
The images were released by it168 and Engadget Chinese translates the specs details for the English readers. The unit's plastic cover already has a crack; however, the previously confirmed report tells us that the removable back lets users replace the 2,600 mAh battery as well as add storage with the micro-SD slot. The forum confirms the rumored features such as 1.8 GHz 8-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU for graphics and gaming, once again.
The most interesting finding is that the device will include the same 'hover' feature found with the S-Pen stylus on the Galaxy Note 2. If that turns to be true, Galaxy S4 will identify the user's finger and almost act as a stylus for floating menus and more. The specs details also include the much-talked about Smart Stay eye tracking feature which will track a user's eyes to determine where to scroll, turn pages when needed and more. Some of the major specs the latest leak confirms are:
- 8-core Exynos 5410 at 1.8GHz
- PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU
- 4.99-inch 1080p screen
- 7.7mm thick, 138 grams
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB ROM
- microSD slot
- 2600mAh battery
