Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.8 users have been facing many problems related to the platform for quite some time, and now it seems that the issues are being taken seriously by the company.

Per reports, Microsoft is now aware of the fact that users of Windows Phone 7.8 devices are facing problems which are actually occurring due to a live tile bug. The piece of information is that the company is looking forward to fix the issue.

The new information came via a thread on Microsoft's Windows Phone Development Forums where the company acknowledged some of these live tile issues. However, the company was less than reassuring about fixing them.

The company admitted that there are two known problems that are creating issues for the users. There's an issue with tiles wasting bandwidth due to excessive server queries, and one that prevents tiles from updating at all.

Microsoft Engineer Mark Chamberlain noted the Live Tile bug can cause two problems:

1. Live tile causing continuous web requests (and side effects such as battery drain)

2. Live tile failing to update.

It is also to be understood that the first one can cause data overages and therefore be very costly to users.

Although the company is aware of the problems faced by the users due to these issues, it hasn't yet committed to resolving them.

"The fixes will be considered for inclusion in an update to the phone operating system. In the forum post above, several posters have been able to get around the problem by unpinning and repinning the live tiles. This might be a temporary workaround," Chamberlain wrote on MSDN.

"I would say the issue has some urgency due to the data usage bug. Of course we have heard the roll-out of WP 7.8 has been halted in Germany, though we do not know if this is the case elsewhere also, but I think at the very least Microsoft needs to put out a blog post informing and warning Windows Phone 7.8 users of the issues and risks," WMPoweruser states.

Previously Microsoft halted the distribution of the latest Windows Phone 7.8 update for all the users wanting to upgrade their device from the previous Windows Phone 7 due to the same problems.
