On Friday, Oct. 26, video game developer Rockstar Games announced via its blog that it will release a special "Anniversary Edition" of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for select iOS and Android devices this fall. The company, however, did not give an exact release date.

Rockstar Games' GTA: Vice City was launched on Oct. 29, 2002, and celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. The classic title sees protagonist Tommy Vercetti take on the Miami underworld.

"In conjunction with the anniversary, we're pleased to announce that we'll be releasing an Anniversary Edition of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for select iOS and Android devices later this fall," stated the official Rockstar Games blog post.

In celebration of the games' tenth anniversary, Rockstar will release a "series of commemorative assets," which includes never-before-seen artwork and a new anniversary special trailer that highlights the games' iconic scenes and music. The game will feature high-resolution graphics, as well as "several enhancements" that will be unique to the iOS and Android platforms. However, Rockstar Games did not specify what these enhancements would be.

Rockstar Games also averred that GTA: Vice City would bring the "full experience" of its original PlayStation 2 title to mobile devices.

What's more, Rockstar Games will also offer limited collectable promotional items, which enthusiasts can purchase via the Rockstar Warehouse. Additionally, selected items would be up for grabs courtesy online giveaways. What the anniversary items are is currently not known; however, it is likely that they would include special merchandize like mugs, T-shirts etc.

The developer did not disclose any other details but hinted that more information would be revealed in the coming weeks, including the list of compatible devices.

"Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead including a list of compatible iOS and Android devices," noted the blog.

Currently, the iOS versions of GTA III and GTA: Chinatown Wars games sell for $0.99. Rockstar Games did not divulge the price for the mobile version of GTA: Vice City, but judging by the GTA III pricing of $4.99 at launch, it is possible that this version too will be priced around the same mark.
