Asus unveiled its new 27-inch ET2001 All-in-One (AIO) desktop PC on Tuesday, Oct. 9, ready to sweep consumers into the touch-based era with full support for the upcoming Windows 8 OS.
The Asus ET2701 comes packed with a frameless, 10-point capacitive touchscreen, the latest Intel Core processors, as well as SonyMaster Technology. According to Asus, the crisp 27-inch LED backlit screen will boast a Full HD default resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a high contrast ratio.
Meanwhile, the screen's VA panel will deliver a wide-view 178-degree angle on both horizontal and vertical planes "to ensure stunning visuals from both angles," touted the company. The AIO also comes with HDMI input, allowing users to connect gaming consoles or other gadgets, while the USB 3.0 port will allow for quick streaming of movies and TV shows from external hard drives. Asus said it will also be offering an optional TV tuner to turn the device into a 27-inch HDTV.
The Asus ET2701 will be available in various configurations to suit different budgets. In terms of CPU, Asus will offer the Intel Core i7-3770S, the Core i5-3450, or the Core i3-3220. The choice of GPU will be between Nvidia's GeForce GT 640M and Intel HD Graphics.
The new AIO will also pack up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM at 1,600 MHz, as well as up to 2TB or storage via a SATA hard disk drive. Optical drive options include a tray-in Blue-ray combo, a tray-in Super Multi DVD drive, and a tray-in Blu-ray writer. Other ports include a 3-in-1 SD card reader and an e-SATA/USB 2.0 combo port. The AIO will also feature 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 2-megapixel camera.
"The ET2701 features built in SonicMaster technology optimized by audio experts," said the company. "It features a finely-tuned digital signal processor that produces every note in pristine clarity with near-zero distortion. Also onboard is DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC II audio technology, which delivers the most realistic, three-dimensional sensation of being completely surrounded by sound."
Asus further added that its ET2701 AIO will also come with an external subwoofer with a 580cc resonance chamber that provides a rich bass response due to its dedication to low-range frequency audio signals.
"The ET2701 comes with a slew of convenient features that make it easy to surf the web, browse through movies and music libraries, or edit photos," added Asus. "The capacitive 10-point touch screen gives users precise fingertip control; giving them the ability to manipulate and navigate touch-optimized apps through intuitive pinch-zoom, swipe, scroll, or rotate gestures."
Asus did not, however, provide pricing and availability details yet.
