Apple announces a redesigned iOS 17 with new features such as autocorrect updates and a rebranded standby mode.
One of its hidden treasures is the "Screen distance" function that is good for your eyes. With respect to this function, which is like a parent's notice on-screen distance, users are alerted in case their iPhone or iPad is drawn closer.
This recommendation from Cedars-Sinai health specialists seeks to minimize the risks of causing eye strain and stress.
The group argued that a screen may irritate one even though it does not harm one's eyes immediately. Besides alleviating the stress on the eyes, it can also be helpful with myopia.
Do you wish to activate the Screen Distance in iOS 17? This is the best way to bring the necessary relief to your eyes.
About the Screen Distance Feature
Introduced in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, Screen Distance is a feature that kids under 13 have enabled by default when they're in a Family Sharing group.
According to Apple, its purpose is to promote good viewing habits and lessen the likelihood of developing myopia by easing eye strain. When an iPhone is held closer than 12 inches over a prolonged period of time, this feature uses the TrueDepth camera to identify it and alert users-especially kids-about the need to move the device to a safer distance.
Screen Distance can be turned off in the iPhone or iPad settings if you would rather not have it.
By default, it encourages younger users to have better screen habits. Before modifying the Screen Distance settings, ensure every device in your Family Sharing group has the most recent software update installed.
How to Turn On/ Off Screen Distance Feature
To enable Screen Distance on your iOS device, follow these steps:
Open settings and open Screen time and then choose Screen Distance. On choosing Screen Distance, there will be a notification of explanation of how this works. Press continue after reading them.
The Screen Distance option gets activated at this point, and it shows only during the first setup stages.
Once it is switched on, if your smartphone is kept near your ear for too long, then the message will show saying- "iPhone may be too close," and in that way block the screen. You can just reset it to the appropriate distance, and upon reaching it, there should appear a check mark allowing you to press
When the repetitive alert notices of the iOS Screen Distance prove more irritating than helpful, you can quickly turn off this feature using a straightforward process.
To turn off the Screen Distance feature, follow these steps: first, open the Settings app on your iPhone, go to Screen Time, and finally tap "Distance." At this point, you should turn off the toggle labeled "Screen Distance."
This would allow you to take selfies with your iPhone while holding it in the closest position to your face, uninterrupted by alert messages. This will allow continuous usage of your device.
