Motorola is on the verge of updating its E-series by announcing a brand new smartphone in the lauded lineup.

Bearing the model number XT1773, a Motorola device has been spotted passing the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). The device is likely to be the bigger sibling of the Moto E4, dubbed as the Moto E4 Plus.

Motorola has neither confirmed nor denied the device's moniker. The alleged device that cleared the FCC is expected to pack a mammoth 5,000mAh (non-removable) battery; the largest battery ever for a smartphone coming from the Lenovo-owned handset maker. Aside from that, the FCC filing also gives us a brief glimpse of the connectivity options that the E4 Plus could offer: NFC, Bluetooth Low Energy (v4.2), 4G LTE connectivity, and 2.4 GHz WI-Fi 802.11-n support.

Moreover, the Moto E4 Plus will be powered by a MediaTek chipset, under the hood. Tech tipster Roland Quandt gave this shred of information a nod via a tweet.

Meanwhile, Motorola is also gearing up to take the wraps off the Moto E4 smartphone. The device carries model number XT1762 and was recently certified by the FCC.

The Moto E4 will be backed by a 2,800mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the device will offer Dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 4.2, and 4G LTE. Both the handsets; the Moto E4, and the E4 Plus will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, according to BGR.

Motorola will oust the Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power smartphones in favor of the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus. The previous generation Moto E smartphones were released in Sept. 2016. With the next-generation Moto E now clearing the FCC, TheIndianExpress' TechDesk suggests the device's launch is just around the corner.

In addition to revamping the E lineup, Motorola is also hard at works on the successors of the Moto Z and X series. Nothing is set in stone yet and details about the new Moto devices are hard to come by as well. However, there's hearsay that the aforesaid devices will be launched at the Lenovo World 2017 event.
