Nintendo's Japanese Web site offered the first glimpses of the new Circle Pad Pro attachment designed for gamers who want an additional analog option for their 3DS XL.

The Circle Pad Pro is an accessory for Nintendo 3DS XL, designed to enhance the gaming experience of the users.

"The smartest thing about the larger Circle Pad Pro is its design. It's not nearly as bulky as the original Circle Pad Pro, gradually jutting out for the second Circle Pad. This shaved design even has a ergonomic slope for you to rest your palm. It's a smart design on Nintendo's part, and it feels nice in the hand-comfortable, but not too big," reports Koyaku.

The backside of the Circle Pad Pro shows exposed screws. Nintendo has not introduced soft touch plastic and instead used hard plastic for the add-on. The company has also reduced the size of the Circle Pad Pro when compared to the older version, and has made certain improvements for comfortable use. However, the design of the Circle Pad Pro lacks presentation.

The button positioning on the Circle Pad Pro is identical to the older version and like the previous iteration the add-on is light.

"You only use the CPP (Circle Pad Pro) if you are left-handed. I guess if you have other games like Resident Evil and you don't mind using the stylus with your left hand it can be a good idea," indicates a blog post on 3DS Forum.

Not many games make use of the Circle Pad Pro, as only a handful support the additional accessory. The question remains if gamers will want to shell out extra cash to buy the add-on accessory.
