Mobilenapps.com reported recently that in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that early Wii U sales were strong. GameStop corroborated the news by revealing that the Deluxe edition of the console has sold out.

According to video game website Polygon, GameStop reached its "number of allocated pre-orders company-wide." Either Wii U is highly anticipated, or the number of units available is small.

"Polygon contacted a number of different stores across the states, all of which confirmed the system is sold out. According to one employee, reserves on the Deluxe edition were nearly half-full in the first few hours," it reported. The Basic edition of the console is also expected to meet pre-order capacity. Interestingly, the report adds that GameStop employees are unsure whether they will receive Deluxe editions post-launch.

The Deluxe edition is the $299 version of Nintendo's next-generation console. Along with including the console, Game Pad controller, HDMI cable, and more, it bundles Ubisoft's ZombiU title. The Basic edition includes the console and its various peripherals, minus the Wii U Pro controller.

ZombiU is a zombie survival horror title developed by Ubisoft. It is based heavily around Wii U's GamePad. For example, entering a passcode to open a locked door happens in real time with zombies approaching while the player performs the action. Dead players have to kill the previous character's zombie form to collect items. It is similar to DayZ, the popular ARMA 2 mod.

Nintendo announced Wii U games to release in the launch "window" covering Nov. 18 to March 2013. Titles like Rayman Legends, though much anticipated, will release in 2013. Nintendo did generate hype with unexpected announcements, namely exclusive-to-Wii U Bayonetta 2. Its announcement triggered a hostile reaction from fans of the first game.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime also said in the aforementioned interview he is nervous, but confident, of Wii U's success.

Wii U launches Nov. 18 in the U.S, alongside ZombiU. Mobilenapps.com covered the announced hardware and launch titles.
