A new “MLB The Show 17” video has just been released by Sony San Diego. This new material boasts of some of the game’s new improvements to its gameplay, as well as some revamped animations. Over 1,000 new gameplay animations were reportedly captured with the use of Sony’s motion-capture cameras.

According to GameSpot, the “MLB The Show 17” video discusses a newly added wide variety of hit-types. There could be slicing or curving grounders down the topspin line drives and bloops, based on how the ball is spinning as it comes off of the bat. Sony confirmed that there could be “hundreds of thousands” of new possibilities.

“MLB The Show 17” gamers might notice an outfielder who is not running to the ball exactly how or when he should -- just like an actual baseball player. This change is brought about by a recent change that intends to give “MLB The Show 17” AI a more “human” appeal.

It was also confirmed that “MLB The Show 17” is going to have an all-improved catch and throw engine, in addition to a new catcher throw-down mechanic for base-stealing. These features will also be including more animations that are specific to each player or a certain team. The famous Boston Red Sox outfielder victory dance has been added, among others.

Sony had also recently boasted about the game’s Retro Mode. As its name entails, it is an arcade-style version of the game that will only require players to use one button for all actions. Moreover, they just have to aim from side to side -- as opposed to up or down -- for pitching.

Furthermore, the Retro Mode of “MLB The Show 17” only has three pitch types, namely, slider, changeup, and fastball. To control velocity, players just have to hold down either Down or Up of the analog stick. “MLB The Show 17” will be out for PlayStation 4 gamers on March 28.
