Bounty hunters, security experts and even curious individuals now have a new toy to tinker with after the FBI launched its Most Wanted app to track down fugitives. This federal government-sanctioned iOS and Android app comes replete with images, description, last sighting and even reward that awaits people who can lead to these criminals' arrest.

According to FBI Public Affairs head Christopher Allen, it has been proven that citizens are instrumental in tipping-off some of the most menacing criminals in America. The Most Wanted app is simply a handheld digital tool to enjoin everybody in hunting down these elusive derelicts, Allen added.

FBI's Most Wanted app acts like a wanted poster where users can check the database once they see a suspicious person, IBTimes said. To make the search easier, it can be further narrowed down into names, known aliases and counties where these criminals operate. Users can tick the Call the FBI or Submit a Tip button at the bottom of each profile.

There are currently 500 profiles in the Most Wanted app and they are predominantly cases and crimes committed in the U.S. FBI has also expanded the coverage by releasing the app worldwide against fugitives who might have escaped abroad.

Most Wanted app serves as a companion to even bigger database in FBI website which was launched way back in 1996. Both means can filter by gravity of offenses, including plain fugitives, bank robbers, terrorists and recent offenders called Case of the Week.

Meanwhile, there are other FBI apps that users might find useful as well. Bank Robbers app seeks public help to identify unknown crooks from pictures or CCTVs taken during their criminal acts. Parents should also check the Child ID app where they can upload information about their children. The latter is especially useful in finding lost a lost child because the database is accessible across the U.S.
