Limited stock of the Nintendo NES Classic Mini is headed to the UK. Meanwhile, Nintendo is leaving no stone unturned in their bid to boost production.

There was a huge clamor for Nintendo's NES Classic Mini during Christmas, and even now, the demand does not seem to have fizzled out. Nevertheless, finding stock in the UK is nothing short of backbreaking but that's likely to change soon.

Though quite hemmed in, a few UK retailers have reportedly started seeing the return of NES stock. For instance, Smyths Toys had stock in a few stores this week; however, these stocks were exclusively up for grabs for those customers in store or those who had opted for click and collect online. Smyths refrained from trotting out their stock, and just resorted to sending a couple of tweets to those looking for it online.

That being said, there is a possibility that Amazon, Argos and other retailers may be following suit and keeping the new stock under wraps. It's worth noting that these limited batches of stocks have arrived in the same week that the Big N announced that the NES Classic Edition sold a whopping 1.5 million units worldwide, DailyStar reported.

Aside from expressing regret for the store shortage, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima told investors why manufacturing the NES Classic Edition console in higher quantities has been challenging. In November 2016, the popular console manufacturer remade palm-sized variants of the Famicom and NES home consoles and shipped the whole batch of Nintendo Classic Mini Family Computer units that was originally made keeping each market in mind, Kimishima explained.

Although some parts require more time to get hold of, Kimishima assured that the company is making every effort to increase production. Moreover, Nintendo is using fans' interest in these products as a platform to promote their latest console, Nintendo Switch.

But much to the dismay of those interested in these products, it is highly likely that the stock shortages could be quite drawn-out citing the lack of availability of components for the NES Classic Edition. The newfangled variant of the Nintendo NES hardware is a small reduplication of the company's original home console which is up for grabs for £49.99 in the UK, which converts to about $62.

Using an HDMI port, the console can be connected to the television like most leading edge consoles. It can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games either on Wii or Wii U systems. The system comprises 30 NES games such as "Kirby's Adventure," "PAC-MAN," "Donkey Kong," "Metroid," "The Legend of Zelda," and fan-favorite classics like "Super Mario Bros."
