If latest reports are to be believed, "Final Fantasy 7" Remake may not be coming to Nintendo Switch and this has disappointed fans a lot. It seems "Final Fantasy 7" may give Nintendo a miss yet again, despite the fact that the developer gave hints earlier. A version of the game is desperately required on a Nintendo system, more specifically Switch. Fans should not lose hope as this could still happen, though early signs do not look promising enough.

According to iDigital Times, Square Enix announced the "Final Fantasy 7" Remake too early to get fans excited. However, the game is reportedly still at a very nascent stage of development and won't be out for a long time. Moreover, the Nintendo Switch console is also not out and will release on March 3. Thus, most reports of the remake coming to Switch are basically guesswork. There is another possible reason why it is difficult for the game to come to Switch. The console will launch with relatively weak third-party support.

The Nintendo Switch may be an upgrade over the Wii U console but it still lags behind. It has performance problems when compared to heavy-duty consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One. Hardware-wise too, the Switch is not exactly a step up and does not have the power of the other mentioned consoles. Of course, logically this is not possible as the Switch is a portable device too and can't have the power of a full heavy-duty console. However, this also means that hardware-pushing third-party games such as "Final Fantasy 7" Remake are unlikely to come to Nintendo Switch.

This is exactly the reason why "Fallout 4" is coming to Switch and not "Skyrim." Developers of the console first need to optimize the console because high-end software like the "Final Fantasy 7" Remake, on a console with average specs, different architecture and unusual control system, is a lot harder to optimize. The Remake will have modern gameplay with cutting-edge graphics, something a Switch may not be able to handle. It's only if the Nintendo Switch becomes a massive success that Square Enix will look to bring the game to the console.
