“How to Get Away with Murder” Season 3 has taken an even darker tone. As the series returned from its winter hiatus, it featured its lead character, Annalise Keating, finding herself stuck in jail.
Annalise, played by Viola Davis, had to endure the humiliation of relieving herself right in front of her cellmates, without any privacy at all. Despite Bonnie’s attempts at getting her out of prison, the notations left by Wes on Philly PD’s immunity agreement were enough to for the judge to keep her in jail until her official trial date is finalized.
To date, there is still no clue as to when Annalise could possibly be released. “This is a really dark moment for Annalise,” “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 3 creator Peter Nowalk told TV Line. “What makes it worse is, there is no easy way for her to get herself out of it.”
The D.A.’s case against Annalise is not only limited to Wes’ death. Annalise is also being investigated for the deaths of Sam and Rebecca as well, prior to “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 3. When Frank confessed his involvement in Wes’ death, the police did not seem to be excited about his statements.
That said, it is believed to be highly possible that Frank’s confession only got in the way of the authorities’ larger plan to frame Annalise. “The question is, ‘Is Frank telling the truth?’” Nowalk added. “There is a chance he is not lying. There are a lot of twists and turns ahead. This whole situation is the most complicated one this group of people has been in.”
“I think everyone is fair game,” he told TV Guide. “There is a lot of people to be accounted for.”
“How to Get Away with Murder” Season 3 viewers were immediately suspicious when the medical examiner altered her findings regarding the cause of Wes’ death. Nowalk added that the second half of the series’ third season will delve deeper into the possibility of corruption in Government office. “Annalise feels like someone wants her to go down,” he said. “They are going to do anything to make that happen.”
