"Necromunda: Underhive Wars," Games Workshop's recent leporine profligacy, which is the video game adaptation of the tabletop game of the same name set in the "Warhammer 40,000" universe has been announced. It's in development at Canadian creator Rogue factor, the maker of "Mordheim: City of the Damned."
Games Workshop is best known for its "Warhammer 40,000" games including the now-terminated "Warhammer Fantasy" tabletop game. Apart from Mordheim, the developer also created more niche games based in the same universe such as "Blood Bowl" and "Space Hulk," all of which have had video game versions, according to PCGamesN.
Eurogamer reports that Focus Home Interactive will publish "Necromunda: Underhive Wars," which is a turn-based tactical RPG where group of gangs fight against each other to control the Underhive - a massive warren of rusted metal husks, derelict factories and forgotten technologies. "Anarchy, violence, betrayal and death rule this hellish place, long forsaken by any semblance of civilization," says Focus Home Interactive in a statement.
Games Workshop head of licensing Jon Gillard thinks that Rogue Factor developers are the right people to retell Necromunda stories in the form of a video game as it did a great job with "Mordheim: City of the Damned." "They're clearly the right people to realize the nightmarish world of Necromunda," Gillard said.
Mordheim has since received several post-release updates that figure well for its future projects, which Rogue Factor's general manager Yves Bordeleau said that the process was an amazing experience they have had where they have learned many lessons. "Necromunda: Underhive Wars" was announced via a new Facebook Page and a new website although there is no further details about the game. More details on this game must be revealed from the publisher's What's Next event in Paris on Feb. 1 and 2.
"Necromunda: Underhive Wars" is planned to be released for PC and consoles. Further details on the game will soon be disclosed. Stay tuned.
