We may never know what truly happened on that fateful day of March 8, 2014 as the official search for the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 has just been officially called off. The tragedy that supposedly claimed the lives of all 239 passengers and crews has remained a mystery three years after the MH370 went missing in the vastness of the Indian Ocean.

The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 departed Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was scheduled to land in Beijing but the Boeing 777 aircraft never made it to China. Several speculations have been made as to what caused the tragic fate of MH370 but no definite conclusion can be made without locating the remnants of the airplane.

The missing Flight MH370 prompted the costliest and largest search in the history of aviation. But the combined efforts of the different countries involved in the search with all their highly advanced equipment and expertise were all for naught as the aircraft was never found.

Investigations about the missing Flight MH370 sparked more conspiracy theories about the tragedy. The official findings of the Flight MH370 investigation have only yielded the information that the communications with air traffic control were dropped by the aircraft minutes after it took off and that Flight MH370 flew off course southwards for a number of hours.

The investigation also concluded that the pilots of the missing airplane did not or were not able to make an emergency landing. The investigation of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau also revealed that there is a possibility that no one was controlling Flight MH370 when it went missing.

Although debris of the missing Flight MH370 were found in a number of places, the search for the missing aircraft did not turn out any positive results despite being extended in both areas of search and time. The news that the search for the missing Flight MH370 was called off was met with a disheartened reaction particularly from the family members of the passengers and crews of the Flight MH370.
