Sometimes, trailers hit or miss by either giving away a movie's entire plot or not enticing viewers enough. However, it looks like "XX" has overcome this hurdle by releasing a terrifying trailer that teases and leaves viewers wondering about the four stories in the horror anthology.

According to Nerdist, "XX" will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival which will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017. The horror anthology will feature four gruesome tales that will each be directed by a "different visionary female filmmaker."

Karyn Kusama will direct the "XX" piece called "Her Only Living Son." Kusama wrote, directed, and produced the 2000 film "Girlfight," and she also directed "Æon Flux" (2009) and "Jennifer's Body" (2009). She recently worked on 2015's "The Invitation," which starred Logan Marshall-Green ("Across the Universe," "Spider-Man: Homecoming"), Tammy Blanchard ("Rabbit Hole," "Into the Woods"), Michiel Huisman ("World War Z," "The Age of Adaline"), and Emayatzy Corinealdi ("In the Morning," "Miles Ahead").

Roxanne Benjamin will direct "Don't Fall" for "XX." Benjamin previously worked on the 2015 anthology horror film "Southbound," where she helmed the story called "Siren." She also produced 2012's "V/H/S" and 2013's "V/H/S 2."

The third director for "XX" is Jovanka Vuckovic, and she will helm the story "The Box." Vuckovic is an award-winning writer and filmmaker, and she previously directed three horror shorts entitled "The Guest," "Self Portrait," and "The Captured Bird."

The last director for the horror anthology "XX" is the musician Anna Clark, who is also known by her stage name St. Vincent. Clark will direct "The Birthday Party" for "XX."

The four films featured in "XX" will be "strung together by a connective sequence directed by animator Sofia Carrillo." The actors for the upcoming horror anthology include Natalie Brown ("How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Day of the Dead"), Melanie Lynskey ("Heavenly Creatures"), Sheila Vand ("A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night," "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot"), Mike Doyle ("Laws of Attraction," "Jersey Boys"), Angela Trimbur ("Brotherhood of Blood," "The Kings of Summer"), and Peter DaCunha ("Home Alone: The Holiday Heist," "Hellions").

Movie Web has revealed that "XX" will be R-rated and will have a run-time of 81 minutes. The horror anthology will be on video on demand by Friday, Feb. 17.
