Like it or not, the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console is the top selling game console in the United States and the rest of the world. The console, which was first released back in the year of 2005, came into the game as the underdog; now look where it is now.

The year 2012 is turning out to be one of the best years for the Xbox 360, and gaming on an overall scale. There are so many games for the Xbox 360 coming out this year that it could be quite difficult picking and choosing what to get from what not to get. We're going to help you solve this problem, as today we're going to list our top 5 must-have video games for the Xbox 360. These are the games you need to be playing when they come out.

Let us kick things off and get the ball-a-rolling, shall we?

#5 Deadlight (Microsoft)

Who said 2D sidescrollers were dead? Think again. Deadlight, a Xbox Live Arcade title, is one of those games. A game set in an apocalyptic world where Zombies roam the lands seeking human flesh to devour. If you are all about finish a shotgun cartridge in the head of some crazy Zombie dude, then Deadlight probably won't be your thing.

The game is all about survival, but not mainly by the way of rising a gun. Platforming and puzzles are the main gameplay aspect of this game, and those are what makes Deadlight different from the plethora of Zombie games already available.

Deadlight is expected to be released on the 1st of August, 2012 exclusively for the Xbox 360.

#4 Resident Evil 6 (Capcom)

Capcom is on a roll in 2012, the game developer managed to formulate a few successes, which include games like Dragon's Dogma. Next on Capcom's list to hit stardom, is Resident Evil 6, the most ambitious game in the franchise. The game features several stars from previous games, characters such as Leon Kennedy, and Chris Redfield are there to take the fight to the Zombies in Raccoon City and other places around the world.

The game consist of three different stories, three main chactacters. Each story plays differently due to the difference in character, and this is probably the best thing about Resident Evil 6, because there is a little something here for everyone.

#3 FIFA 13 (Electronic Arts)

Bet you didn't expect a sports game to be on the list, well it is, so deal with it. FIFA 13 is looking to be one of the best sports game of 2012, and this has all to do with Kinect. With Kinect and FIFA 13, gamers will have the option to use voice commands to do things like substituting a player, and even cursing the referee, which as you know could get the player a yellow card.

Not much in the game looks different when compared to FIFA 12, while there will be some new additions, the ones that stand out the most are the Kinect features.

#2 Assassins Creed III (Ubisoft)

Assassins Creed III is the fifth major installment in the Assassins Creed series, and is set to release on October 30, 2012. The game setting is in Colonial America, a time when the American Revolution is all hot and bothered with wars and rumors of wars taking place everywhere you see two men and a gun.

The game features a new protagonist; an assassin called Connor Kenway, and there is expected to be a lot more about Desmond Miles this time around, adding fuel to rumors that suggested Desmond story could end with Assassins Creed III.

Connor Kenway will encounter historical figures including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Lee, Israel Putnam, Paul Revere, General Lafayette, John Pitcairn, William Prescott, King George III, Samuel Adams and Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben.

#1 Halo 4 (343 Industries)

Halo 4, the biggest and most important video game release this year for the Xbox 360, is the eighth installment in the franchise, and the first of a new trilogy. Halo 4 marks the return of John-117, aka Master Chief as the main protagonist. This is the first time Master Chief is taking the leading role in a Halo game since 2007, so no doubt Halo fans are screaming in enjoyment.

The game will take place on an artificial forerunner planet called Requiem, there Masterchief and company will go up against forerunner forces such as the Prometheans. The Prometheans are the main antagonist on Requiem; they are also the primary soldiers who protect the Didact.

Microsoft plans to drop Halo 4 on store shelves come November 6, 2012.
