In an effort to differentiate itself from competitors such as AT&T and Verizon, Sprint has become the first mobile carrier to bundle an Ultrabook with a data plan in an exclusive wireless package that includes a 3G /4G mobile hotspot device at no additional charge. The Lenovo IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook is part of a new category of stylish, ultra-portable computing devices inspired by Intel, and comes with a slew of useful features including thin and light designs, fast start-up, as well as PC content-creation capabilities and performance levels.
The bundle includes the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook and either MiFi 3G/4G mobile hotspot by Novatel Wireless or Overdrive Pro 3G/4G mobile hotspot by Sierra Wireless. The offer comes with a $799.99 price tag (plus tax) and includes three months of free mobile broadband service on the mobile hotspot device with a two-year mobile broadband service contract with Sprint.
Sprint's data plans for the 3G/4G mobile hotspot device start at $34.99 per month, which will get you 3GB of combined 3G/4G data while on the Sprint network. Meanwhile, the $49.99 per month plan comes with 6GB of combined 3G/4G data, as well as three months of free mobile broadband service with a two-year mobile broadband service agreement with Sprint. The three months free will be provided as a monthly service credit and will start on the second or third invoice. Prices do not include taxes and surcharges.
"Sprint is uniquely positioned to bring our customers an aggressively priced Ultrabook, powerful 3G/4G mobile hotspot and easily affordable mobile broadband rate plan that offers a significant savings compared to our competitors," Sprint's Vice President of Product Development David Owens said in the press release. "Lenovo IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook paired with a Sprint 3G/4G mobile hotspot is an incredible value and gives a small business or student going back to school this fall the ability to get work done at an easily affordable price."
Lenovo's IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook sports an ultra-slim, sleek design, combined with highly-responsive, tablet-like technologies such as Lenovo RapidBoot and BootShield. RapidBoot enables the Ultrabook to resume from hibernate mode in less than seven seconds, while BootShield ensures fast boot performance even after installing multiple applications.
"Our IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook combines the best of both the PC and tablets, with powerful processing performance, large storage capacity, rich audio and lightning fast speed all wrapped in an incredibly sleek and mobile design," said Lenovo's executive director of Marketing David Bent. "Sprint's mobile broadband network unleashes the Ultrabook's full capabilities [so] consumers, business users or student[s] can work, study, and play virtually whenever and wherever they want."
The IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook is 0.71-inch thin (18 mm), weighs less than four pounds, and provides up to seven hours of battery life. It sports a 13.3-inch HD display, Intel Core i5 processor, Intel GMA 3000 HD graphics, 720p HD webcam, stereo speakers with Dolby Home Theater V4 audio enhancement, as well as Lenovo's AccuType keyboard.
Security tools include Lenovo's VeriFace facial recognition technology for secure login, OneKey Rescue System for data backup and recovery, and Intel Anti-Theft (AT) technology for remotely disabling the Ultrabook or tracking it down through GPS or Wi-Fi geo-location.
