"Once Upon a Time" Season 6 cast news reveals that fans and viewers may expect for major changes in the show in the event that ABC renews the series for Season 7. During the Television Critics Association, ABC Chief Channing Dungey hinted that the show will undergo some form of reset, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Dungey explained that executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are looking to change the storyline through a different standpoint. This meant that some of the "OUAT" Season 6 cast may no longer be in the show by Season 7.
There have been rumors that Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma in "Once Upon a Time," will be leaving the show in Season 6. Many fans noted that a change in the show's standpoint may mean that the series will shift its focus from Emma to a different character such as Regina.
While the future of "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 and its cast still remains to be seen, spoilers from TVLine reveal that Rumple's son, Baelfire/Neal will not be returning to the series. According to the show's co-creator, Kitsis, they are always looking forward to getting actor Michael Raymond-James back on the show.
However, his absence from "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 makes perfect sense following the recent events in the show. The showrunner, however, said that they will continue to pay tribute to the character in the form of a painting hung on the wall.
