"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is back in production for the New Year. Here is everything that you need to know before the show returns to HBO in the summer.
"Game of Thrones" season 7 will be made up of seven episodes and will premieres possibly a few months later than the expected April air date. Now that winter has finally arrived, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss believe that the storylines would be better made by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is actually changing. Hollywood Reporter quotes Casey Bloys, President of HBO programming, in a statement that instead of the show's traditional spring debut, it will be moved to summer to accommodate the new shooting schedule.
The Cast
Jim Broadbent has been cast for a yet to be disclosed role and HBO confirmed to EW that the character would be significant. Broadbent has a history a record of playing important parts in great films like "Moulin Rouge," "Gangs of New York," and "Iris," which won him an Oscar.
Another big name reportedly joining season 7 is UFC Champ Conor McGregor. Although UFC has already confirmed the champ's involvement, Watchers on the Wall verified that he would appear in a glorified cameo. He will portray a pirate and crew member on Euron Greyjoy's ship, The Silence. Presumably, McGregor will be his strong and destructive right-hand when the self-claimed King of the Iron Islands brings his navy to combat against that of Daenerys and Yara Greyjoy.
