Entering year 2017, streaming fans are expecting and demanding more and more from online services that provide entertainment through showing TV shows with the help of the Internet. Netflix and Amazon are the two biggest names that come to mind when it comes to streaming service.

Coverage

For this year, the coverage of both Amazon and Netflix is still expected to expand. Netflix was able to introduce its streaming service to 130 new markets making it available in almost all major countries. On the other hand, Amazon has also unveiled the Prime Video just last month to about 200 countries around the globe.

In terms of content, Amazon Prime Video boasts about 2,000 television shows and 18,000 movie titles. Meanwhile, Netflix only has 10,000 available movies and TV shows combined.

A list of shows for Netflix include "Orange is the New Black," "Stranger Things," "House of Cards," "Black Mirror," "Gilmore Girls" and "Jessica Jones" among others. "The Man in the High Castle," "Hand of God" and "Transparent" are some of the offerings on Amazon Prime.

Pricing details

Amazon is set to offer its streaming service for a six-month trial for only $2.99 per month, a price which will climb to $5.99 after the trial period. On the other hand, Netflix is charging $8 a month to their customers even in other areas apart from the United States.

What's new for 2017?

This January 2017 will be a great month for both streaming service as Netflix will air "E.T. the Extra Terrestrial," "Boogie Nights," "It Follows" and the TV adaptation of "A Series of Unfortunate Events." Amazon Prime Video will also be offering notable titles suach as "Z: The Beginning of Everything," "Sneaky Pete" and "Maid in Manhattan."
