Quite recently Mark Zuckerberg showed off his home based J.A.R.V.I.S AI System. The AI featured the voice of Morgan Freeman and did all the basic household work. However, just like the actual AI from 'Iron Man', Zuckerberg's AI also doesn't have a physical form. Mayfield Robotics "Kuri" Home Robot might just be a big game changer in this field, involving robots in household chores. While there are a number of robots already working on the field, "Kuri" has a Wall-E like appearance and may just be the cutest robot so far.
Robots are already replacing human workforce in big industries and factories. They have even taken up the role as drivers in the new self-driving cars, but it's the consumer space that is still new for robots to be involved in. Mayfield Robotics "Kuri" Home Robot is the company's most recent effort to make intelligent robots a part of our daily lives. Every robotic fan is already aware of other robots in the field, including Pepper and Jibo, but they have not yet been very successful so as to be used in our domestic chores.
Mayfield Robotics "Kuri" home robot comes from an independent subsidiary of 'Bosch'. The company revealed the Wall-E-like robot at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 this Tuesday. "Kuri" stands 20" tall, 12" wide and has a number of inbuilt features, which include a capacitive touch sensor, microphones, speakers, asynchronous motors, and also an HD camera. The robot also has an Emoji based facial display, which enables it to display emotions combined with an audio sound, whenever a task is assigned to it. There's also a built-in LED that changes color whenever the home robot has to indicate a change of mood.
No Doubt, Amazon Echo, and Google Home are best at what they do. Playing music, answering questions, and controlling the smart appliances. Mayfield Robotics "Kuri" home robot although lacks in some of these functions, it has a dynamical personality, which the company states comes from its eyes and demeanour. The Cute voice-controlled robot can perform most of the household chores and unlike the current AI systems, it does have a physical body. Currently "Kuri" isn't compatible with Spotify or other music providers, however, it does act as a Bluetooth speaker.
Mayfield Robotics "Kuri" home robot uses a laser array to digitally map the house. It also features a 1080p camera to be used for remote security check-ins. The robot also has an iOS / Android app to directly access its functions. "Kuri" can easily control most smart home devices using IFTTT and uses an intelligent docking station to charge itself as soon as the battery starts to get low.
Mayfield Robotics "Kuri" also has a facial recognition system and also responds to touch. The robot is available for Preorder now in the US with a $100 deposit. The bot costs around $699 and will ship sometime later this year. Stay tuned to Mobile&Apps for more news and updates on home robots.
