The automation future is more about comfort than the speed, it seems. And, the comfort is more about selfies and other similar social stuff as well. Fiat Chrysler chose CES 2017 to unveil the Portal Concept minivan. This new car is packed with features such as voice biometrics and face recognition. According to the automaker, these features are going to be an integral part of the consumers' lives and not just a tool.

Fiat Chrysler Portal Concept Car Features

The SUV/minivan/crossover concept vehicle is a self-driving electric three-row seater with doors that slide both backwards and forwards. To ensure high-end social media features in the vehicle, Fiat/Chrysler added in a selfie cam to it. This cam will take care of all the data of the driver and ensure trips as per the information. The vehicle also features displays on the back of the front seats for back passengers. An intercom system is also integrated into the vehicle for better communication between front and back passengers.

Besides Fiat Chrysler's portal concept selfie and other social media features, it offers a range of more than 250 miles. Other than that, the car offers DC quick charging as well. The battery in the vehicle also gives an extra 150 miles after 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle will also operate through a semi-automated mechanism to run radar, Lidar, camera sensors, and ultrasonic for tracking the road safely for the riders.

There is still little known about when this new concept minivan/SUV will be available for purchase. But, surely it is unlikely to hit the consumers this soon because of the other concept cars out there. We might see this one in the future Fiat/Chrysler vehicles. Moreover, the price of this hi-tech vehicle will surely be too high for the common people for now. So, releasing it would be of no use for now. Nonetheless, the Fiat Portal concept car looks great.
