Horror movies are all about entertainment, in the cruellest way possible. With psychological games, gore, and thrills, these flicks are what give us the perfect scenario of the supernatural. Viewers this year are going to be in for a scare with the upcoming horror movies in 2017.

A number of creepy characters are coming back. "Annabelle 2" is coming up this year with everyone's favourite creepy doll. Expect Samara, the ghost from "The Ring" series of movies to be back as well. Her latest video showing her crawling out of a television in the upcoming movie, "Rings" will surely give viewers Goosebumps. Not to mention, Stephen King's famous horror movie "It" is coming up with a remade version. Expect clowns in sewers ready to haunt us once again.

Don't expect all movies to be great. Some of the classic monster movies that we know of are given a new action-based scenario as well. Some of these could turn out to be great without a doubt. Movies like "The Mummy," "Kong: Skull Island," and "War for the Planet of the Apes" are some of the major names in action horror flicks.

Another upcoming horror movie in 2017 is "The Belko Experiment," which is based on novel premises such as death matches as seen in "The Hunger Games" and Japan-based "Battle Royale." The movie will feature such a concept in an office. Another office-based horror coming up this 2017 is "A Cure for Wellness."

Do note that, a number of upcoming horror movies in 2017 are still not revealed to the media as photos or trailers are still not released. But, we do know a few upcoming horror movie names in 2017. Some are "Flatliners," "God Particle" or popularly known as "Cloverfield 3," and "Friday the 13th" which will feature an origin story of Jason Voorhees and his mother.
