NBC is adding a little bit of more comedy into everyone's lives. It is going to showcase "Powerless" which is a comedy series about very ordinary people and workers who are employed at an insurance agency, but the entire background is set in the DC Universe itself. Does that not sound interesting? Currently, there is not much known about the upcoming series but we have collected some important information about the show.

It is pegged to be a superhero comedy series about insurance agents who do the aftermath in any superhero related destruction. The series will be launched on NBC and will be directed by Michael Patrick Jann, who has previously directed the film "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and episodes from other TV shows. "Powerless" release date is slated to be February 2nd, and it will capture the 8 pm time slot. The official synopsis of the plot by NBC itself gives some important clues about the series:

"In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specialises in products that make defenceless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realisation that you don't need superpowers to be a hero."

"This is a world where superheroes are not only just on green screen out the window of this insurance office," said Jennifer Salke, an NBC executive, "but they're also running into you on the street and wreaking havoc."

The main question here is, why is the plot so similar to "Damage Control" which is going to be showcased on ABC and takes on from the Marvel world? Salke tried to bring out the difference but the viewers would need to be the proper judge of these aspects. The first episode will feature a recognisable superhero, although it will not be Batman or Superman just yet.

As far as the cast of "Powerless" is concerned, the show will star Vanessa Hudgens (remember her from High School Musical?) as Emily Locke, an insurance agent. Emily is a person who loves her job and gets it done, come what may, but is getting frustrated with the destruction that accompanies superhero acts. Danny Pudi from "Community" will be playing her best friend and Alan Tudyk plays the evil-ish new boss at Emily's company. Keep watching this space for more updates about "Powerless".
