"Major Crimes" Season 5 cancellation news notes on the possibility that the current season will serve as the series finale for the TNT drama. Rumors of the show's cancellation began after TNT announced that the show will return in February to a different time slot - Wednesday at 9:00 p.m.

According to Carter Matt, this puts "Major Crimes" Season 5 at a great risk since it will be airing alongside other shows from other networks such as "Law & Order: SVU" and "Criminal Minds." These share the same genre as that of the TNT drama, so it remains to be seen how this move to a different time slot will affect the show.

There have also been rumors that "Major Crimes" Season 5 may end with the death of a major character. As seen in the midseason finale, LAPD Assistant Chief Russell Taylor died and Lieutenant Andy Flynn suffered a heart attack.

This made a lot of fans wonder whether Andy will die in "Major Crimes" Season 5. In an interview with TVWise, series creator James Duff shared that viewers will be given answers when the show returns in February 2017.

While Duff refused to give details as to whether or not Andy will survive the heart attack in "Major Crimes" Season 5, Duff hinted that actor Tony Denison is not "tired" of playing the role. This could mean that Andy will survive his second health scare in the TNT drama, but the fate of the show still remains in question.
