Japanese magazine publication, Shonen Jump, has just recently reconfirmed that the previously announced Hollywood produced "Naruto Live-Action" movie is still going to happen. No release date revealed, unfortunately, but the production company and the people involved with the film have been announced.

According to the latest Twitter post from Shonen Jump, American entertainment and media company, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., is now pushing its plans forward to make "Naruto Live-Action."

Furthermore, Michael Gracey, who previously worked in visual effects and animation, as reported by Anime News Network, has now been tapped to take the helm of the project. Some fans might not react positively to this news, considering what has happened in the past. However, others might feel relieved knowing that the franchise's creator, Masashi Kishimoto, has seemingly been confirmed to be involved with the project.

Unfortunately, neither Shonen Jump nor Kishimoto revealed any significant or specific details as for the latter's involvement in "Naruto Live-Action."

Fans reaction to the "Naruto Live-Action" announcement

Many enthusiasts of the franchise are now probably skeptical with the latest news. As what some might remember, a live-action adaptation of anime - or even a western cartoon series for that matter - hasn't been exactly the crowd's favorite.

A couple of the examples that have flopped in the past were: "Dragonball: Evolution," which only received 14 percent of ratings in Rotten Tomatoes, and "Avatar: The Last Airbender" with 6 percent ratings.

Fans over at Reddit are not exactly enthused by the news either. Some are even joking about who might get casted as the lead roles Uchicha Sasuke, Haruno Sakura, and Uzumaki Naruto.

"Naruto Live-Action" release date and cast

Lionsgate has yet to release any official statement regarding the news for "Naruto Live-Action." No word yet on when the production will actually begin; its potential release date time frame, or even the cast that will play the role. More news about the matter should emerge in the coming months.
