The newly unveiled smartphone from Chinese-manufacturer, Huawei, seems to be a step into the right direction when it comes to design; it is truly a device with a design that has never been seen before. The brand new Huawei Honor Magic apparently takes advantage of the latest in design and technology, which is shown in its fully edge-less design, that literally makes it look like a giant pebble.
Huawei proudly released some new images of their Huawei Honor Magic smartphone, which features an all-curved edge design that takes the device to an entirely new level. The screen itself has been completely wrapped around the left and right edges of the phone, albeit with still some bezels at the top and bottom. Huawei however has completely design the phone so that edges of the bezel are not easily spotted, creating an illusion of a much bigger screen.
The display itself is a 5.09-inch AMOLED QHD display with a pixel density of 577ppi. The unit also packs some very interesting new hardware which makes the device even more desirable. Huawei added its own digital assistant, called DeepThink, which works together with the software's FaceCode. The phone can apparently be unlocked using an eye recognition system that utilizes an infrared camera.
The camera setup is also pretty decent, with a dual 12 megapixel cameras at the back sporting an f/2.2 aperture and 1.4µm pixels. The front facing unit is an 8 megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. The device runs on the Android 6.0 skinned with Huawei's own Honor Magic Live OS on top.
The processor is a bit on the mid-end however, as the Honor Magic only packs a Kirin 950 chip. The Kirin processor will manage to do its job, but lacks some of the more modern features of newer chipsets, such as 4K 2160 video capture. The Huawei Honor Magic is currently now available for pre-order in China for around $530.
Huawei has yet to announce when they will be launching the device in other territories.
