The entire "Star Wars" franchise plans to release more titles in the coming years. The latest stand-alone anthology film, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", is now showing in theaters worldwide --- with fans already looking forward to the next Star Wars movie installments like "Han Solo", which is scheduled for release in 2018.
The brand new, yet-to-be-officially-titled anthology film is scheduled to come out right after "Star Wars: Episode 8". But despite this confirmation, there still isn't much to know about the new movie. Luckily, in an interview with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, it was revealed that the studio has already planned to start filming "Han Solo" in February next year.

The upcoming movie will star Alden Ehrenreich as the titular role. The film will mainly focus on a young Han Solo in an all-new origin story. It will also follow the young Solo as he becomes a smuggler, a thief, and that "nerf-herder" Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi eventually met inside the cantina at Mos Eisley. Along with Solo, Chewbacca will be featured as well, giving audiences a closer look on how the two formed their partnership.
When asked about when fans would be seeing the upcoming movie's first teasers, Kennedy responded by saying that fans should start to see them sometime in spring 2017. This timeframe will coincide with the annual Star Wars Celebration, which is held from April 13 to 17; meaning, a teaser could be unveiled by then.
Meanwhile, other reports say that the premiere of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" live-action adaptation, which is scheduled to open in March 17 next year, could also be a great venue to have a first look on the new "Han Solo" movie.
The yet-to-be-officially-titled "Han Solo" anthology film will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord and written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
