Nintendo's entry to the scene coincided with the release of both Nintendo 3DS ans Wii U. The promise is to have each available fighter to have a corresponding toy. The fighters such as Sonic, Mega Man and Pacman that did not make it to the Nintendo's first party line are included in this. Fighters were continuously added through Downloadable Content (DLC) after the release and Amiibo items will be produced as well.
Upcoming Releases
Laura Dale, a Let's Play Video Games writer, further said that Nintendo is planning to complete the Super Smash Bros. Amibo collection of fighters in 2017. In her recent social media post, Dale mentioned that Bayonetta and Final Fantasy's Cloud will be released together with a Super Smash Bros port.
Nintendo Wii U released Yoshi's Wooly World in 2015 and launched Amiibo's new line to mirror the world of yarn featured. Yoshi color variants are available in pink, green and blue with the size of a typical stuff animal for kids.
The New Sidekick.
In February 2017, a new sidekick of Yoshi will be born by the name Poochy. Poochy will be Yoshi's assistant in completing the game and will appear in the upcoming 3DS version. The new name will then be Poochy and Ypshi's Wooly World. The Amiibo of Poochy will still be the same as yarn in relation to Yoshi's.
Reggie Fils-Aime proudly announced during the E3 presentation that gamers can expect new sets of Amiibo for Breath of the Wild, while the rest of the future plans are still kept secret from the public. On the other hand, Japan confirmed that there will be a new Amiibo update together in Eshop: Box Boy. It was not confirmed though that the same is the case for United States. The gamers will have to wait then until an actual update is released.
