Kdrama viewers have high expectation on tvN's new drama "Goblin," and it looks like the production did not disappoint as the series premiere episode ratings is definitely showing a warm reception.
The drama has since caught the attention of many Korean drama fans when news came out that the scriptwriter of the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" would be partnering up with "Train to Busan" actor Gong Yoo and top director Lee Eung Bok.
The drama's impressive cast, including Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, Yoo In Na, and BTOB's Sungjae, probably played a big role in attracting those viewer ratings.
"Goblin" aired its 90-minute premiere episode on December 2, recording an average viewer rating of 6.9%, plus the highest rating during the broadcast at 9.3%.
tvN's "Reply 1988", the most recently ended of the "Reply" series, started off with average viewer ratings of 6.7% and the highest rating during broadcast at 8.7% during its first episode.
The first episode ends with Kim Go Eun confessing her love to Gong Yoo, making viewers excited for episode 2.This drama received praise for being a high quality and well-made drama after just one episode, Hancinema reported.
While the chemistry of Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun was noted and expected previously, Lee Dong Wook, who portrays the role of the Grim Reaper and Yoo In Na, who plays the role of Sunny is reportedly expected to add more romance and thrill to the newest tvN drama.
According to one fan theory, Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) might be the King and Sunny (Yoo In Na) as the Queen who was killed in the first episode. Moreover, the theory revealed that since the dead king's body was not shown, some fans assume that it is because it will soon be revealing Lee Dong Wook as the face of the grown up king who regretted killing Gong Yoo's character, Kim Shin. Sunny (Yoo In Na) is believed to be the reincarnation of the dead Queen who was Kim Shin's sister.
However, the fans can only confirm these theories when the series completes its episodes."Goblin" airs on tvN on Fridays and Saturdays at 20:30 KST.
