The Galaxy Note family has been hit by a tornado with the Note 7 fiasco. Since then, Galaxy Note users are in dilemma of upgrading their earlier model. Let's compare the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 5 to see if the extra cost is worth it.

Starting with the performance, the Note family has always delivered the latest technology. Galaxy Note 5 shines with Exynos 7420 octa-core processor with 2.1 GHz clocking speed. Whereas, Note 4 has two variant- one with Quad-core 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 and the other with octa-core Exynos 5433 wth 1.9GHz clocking speed. Both the phones deliver better performance.

Samsung has made no changes in the display with 5.7" Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass 4 with HD resolution in both Note series. The huge screen is necessary for the better use of Stylus that comes with Galaxy Note.

The weight, build, and design of both the phones remain same. However, the Note 5 has the latest Samsung Pay feature.

The Note 4 comes with only 32 GB internal storage accompanied by microSD storage up to 256GB. In Note 5, Samsung has expanded the portfolio with 32/64/128GB offering without any microSD slot. The Note 5 comes with 4GB RAM while Note 4 has only 3GB under its hood.

There is no improvement in the rear camera with 16MP lens and LED flash in both the Note series. However, selfie lovers can cheer with the 5MP front snapper in the Note 5 which also supports dual video call. The Note 4 comes with only 3.7MP secondary camera. Other features remain the same.

The Note 5 comes with wireless charging supported by 3000mAh battery while Note 4 has a bigger 3220mAh battery accompanied by faster charging technology.

Both can be upgraded to the latest Android 6.0 OS.

Summing up, the Note 5 is a good upgrade from the Galaxy Note 4, if you want to spend some extra bucks for the Samsung Pay and other new features.
