The exact release date of the Android 7.1 Nougat is still unknown, however, there were reports suggesting that the software will be available on the first month of 2017.

Previously, Google disclosed that the developer preview of Android 7.1 Nougat will be accessible by the end of October.

"Later this month, we'll be bringing you the Android 7.1 platform as an open Developer Preview, similar to what we did for Android 7.0. You'll be able to test and build on the new platform and try the latest features," said Dave Burke, Google's VP for engineering.

Reports suggested that the said operating system will be offered to a number of Nexus devices such as the Nexus Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C Tablet.

"It seems the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C, and Android One devices are expected to receive the Nougat 7.1 upgrade by this December," as reported by Neurogadget. This will be good news to those who own the units stated above since it was said before that buying the hottest Google or Pixel XL phones is a must in order to have the newest Android OS. In addition, some reports stated that the Nexus 4 can run the Android upgrade by a custom ROM.

Other non-Nexus phones might have the Android 7.1 Nougat update the moment it has been made available to the Nexus devices.

Android Nougat 7.1 carries a numerous new features to Google fans, especially app developers searching to taking advantage of the latest software.

According to Citizenoracle, Google has just recently announced that "the launching of the screening form for the new Android Nougat 7.1 can be downloaded and installed on various Google Nexus devices."

The source added that "the purpose why Google permits users to experience these fresh updates ahead of the schedule is for them to get comments, feedback and reactions in order for them to enhance the update in the best possible way."

Android 7.1 Nougat provides the performance, efficiency and security of Android 7.0 Nougat together with a few new APIs, bug fixes and optimizations.

Many hoped that Android Nougat 7.1 will fix the battery life issue and other problems of Nexus 6P devices.

Android 7.1 Nougat will also give image keyboard support which will allow users to communicate clearly in their devices by an animated GIF, custom stickers, and other graphic contents. It will also permit users to access a fresh Settings screen and to easily erase junk and unused files through a better storage management.

Google is yet to give updates on the release date of the much awaited Android 7.1 Nougat.
