Samsung has continued its tradition of offering budget smartphones with its new J-series offering, the Galaxy J5 (2016). Sony, which has built a reputation for bringing both a powerful camera and music phone, has extended its XA series with its latest Xperia XA Ultra.
Let's compare and find out the difference and similarities.
In terms of screen quality, Sony fares way ahead with its stunning offering of 6'' huge screen having HD display. However, the J5 also boasts an impressive, yet smaller screen size with 5.2", having 720 x 1280 resolution.
The Xperia XA Ultra comes with IPS LCD display with scratch resistant glass, and the Galaxy J5 has Super AMOLED touch screen.
When it comes to camera, the Sony brand leads again with the ultimate 21.5 MP rear and 16 MP front snapper. Contrastingly, the Samsung phone lags behind with only 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera.
Both Android phones which run on 6.0 (Marshmallow) will be compared better in terms of processor. The Sony brand has the latest octa-core Helio P10 processor clocking at 2.0 GHz, whereas the Samsung J variant features a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor which has a slower speed at 1.2 GHz.
Comparing the storage option of both the phones, both the Xperia XA Ultra and Galaxy J5 come with 16 GB internal memory and can be expanded up to 256GB with a microSD slot. In terms of RAM, Sony has 3GB RAM, while J5 only has 2GB of RAM in its frame.
Comparing the battery life, Samsung this time offers more with J5 which has 3100mAH battery against the 2700mAH battery of XA Ultra.
Summing up, the Sony XA Ultra is very much pricier than the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016), however, it clearly shines brighter when it comes to processor, camera, and display.
